Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently in-network with United Healthcare and Aetna. If you are interested in submitting for out-of-network benefits with another provider, then I am happy to provide an itemized bill for you.
Who do you work with?
I work with young adults and adults.
How frequent are sessions?
I typically recommend meeting for sessions once per week in order for counseling to be most effective. This is especially important when starting out in therapy in order to build a collaborative relationship and gain momentum in therapy work. We can revisit this conversation throughout our work together and determine what schedule will be best for you.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically between 50-60 minutes.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes! Choosing a counselor is an important decision. I typically schedule a 15-minute phone conversation prior to beginning our work together in order to discuss your goals for counseling, share more about how I work, and together determine if we will be the right fit before setting up an intake session.
What can I expect in my first session?
During the first session, we will go over general paperwork. I will then spend the majority of the session learning more about you, including hearing your story and discussing goals that led to your decision to seek out counseling.
What is your specific treatment approach?
My approach to therapy is primarily person-centered, meaning that I value a collaborative approach to counseling in which I empower you to take the lead in your own counseling experience. My work is also strongly influenced by concepts from psychodynamic theory. In addition to these two approaches, I draw from various treatment techniques to meet your individual needs.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require 24 hours notice of cancellation or the full fee for the session will be charged.
